BP Pipelines Contingency Plan Public Comment Opportunity
Ecology invites interested public, local and tribal governments, and all others to review and comment on contingency plan updates. This plan is undergoing its 5-year update as well as required updates for the 12-month phase-in requirements to Chapter 173-182 WAC. This rule requires large oil handling facilities, pipelines, and vessels to have a state-approved oil spill contingency plan that ensures their ability to respond to major oil spills. The updates to this rule will be implemented over four phase-in periods between July 18, 2020 and January 18, 2022. More information on what is required during these phase-in periods can be found in WAC 173-182-130.
The below plan is currently undergoing a review by Ecology and may not meet all requirements of the rule update. Your comments, as well as Ecology’s review, will be considered before approving the contingency plan.
